Crypto casino promo codes: how they work and how to spot a fake
A promo code is a tracking tag with a bonus attached. Knowing who gets paid when you type it in explains most of what you see online.
What a promo code actually does
A promo code does two jobs. It tells the casino which bonus to attach to your account, and it tells the casino who sent you. The second job is why codes exist. Affiliates, streamers and partner sites are paid for the players they refer, either a flat fee or a share of what those players lose.
That is not a reason to avoid codes. It is a reason to read the offer the code unlocks instead of trusting the page that gave it to you.
The kinds of code you will meet
- Welcome codes. Entered at sign up to unlock or enlarge the first deposit bonus.
- No deposit codes. Add free spins or credit before you deposit. See the cashout cap before you play.
- Reload codes. Sent by email or posted in a casino’s Telegram or Discord for existing players.
- Rakeback and VIP codes. Change the percentage of your bets returned to you over time. Often better value than a one off bonus if you play regularly.
- Drop codes. Short lived codes shared on social channels, first come first served.
Where real codes come from
Genuine codes come from the casino itself, its official social channels, its email list and partners it has an agreement with. If a code is real, the casino’s own bonus terms page will describe the offer it unlocks.
Signs a code page is bait
- The code is hidden behind a click. “Reveal code” buttons exist to set a tracking cookie. Often there is no code at all.
- It promises something the casino’s terms do not mention. If the bonus page on the casino does not list the offer, the code will not create it.
- It is “exclusive” on dozens of sites. The same code on every page is a generic affiliate tag.
- It asks you to download something. No genuine promo code needs an app, browser extension or wallet connection to work.
- It asks for your seed phrase or private key. Nothing legitimate ever does. Close the page.
Before you type one in
Check the code’s expiry, whether it is for new accounts only, and which countries it covers. Then read the bonus terms as you would for any offer: wagering, maximum bet, maximum cashout and time limit. A code changes the size of a bonus. It does not change the rules.
Quick answers
Where do I enter a crypto casino promo code?
Usually in a field on the sign up form or in the cashier or bonus section of your account. Some codes only work at registration and cannot be added later.
Why does my promo code say invalid?
The most common reasons are that the code has expired, it is limited to new accounts, it is not available in your country, or it had to be entered at sign up.
Do promo codes change the wagering requirement?
Rarely. A code normally changes the size or type of the bonus. The wagering, max bet and cashout rules attached to that bonus still apply.
